Manchester pop music fans have been left frustrated as global superstar Beyoncé snubs the North West of the UK in favour of a gig in Sunderland on her upcoming Renaissance tour.

The singer announced her long-awaited tour dates today and had fans' heads turning with a small number of dates in the UK which didn't include any shows in Manchester.

The North West city has become a regular stop for the biggest of stars over the years but is nowhere to be seen on the dates released for this year's Renaissance tour.

Beyoncé will play gigs in Cardiff, Edinburgh and at the Stadium of Light in Sunderland before two nights at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London.

The 'Cuff It' singer has a history with the North East, having previously performed at the Wearside stadium to kick off the 2016 Lemonade World Tour. In that year, she also played at the Emirates Old Trafford in Manchester.

In the minutes after the Beyoncé tour dates for 2022 were confirmed, fans took to social media to beg for a Manchester date and question the star's choice to play in Sunderland.
