Local elections are an important chance for communities to have their say on how their local area is run, and how funds are allocated.

Local elections also give a good indication of the country’s voting intention for other upcoming elections.

In this local election, seats will be contested across Newcastle, Gateshead, South Tyneside and North Tyneside wards in the upcoming local elections.

Throughout these areas there are 86 wards, leaving a total of 88 seats up for grabs.
