Nine brilliant Firework displays across Newcastle and Gateshead this weekend for Bonfire Night 2022

From a Disney and Marvel themed do to a night at the races and free displays in public parks, these are the firework displays in Newcastle and Gateshead that you need to know about.

Firework displays are taking place across Newcastle, Gateshead and Tyneside this weekend as the region celebrates Bonfire Night. From Saltwell Park to Newcastle Racecourse, it's all go this year.

The official date for Guy Fawkes Day is of course Saturday, November 5 but there are events across the region all weekend. Whether you are in Newcastle or Gateshead, there's bound to be an event on your doorstep this year with many more displays going ahead compared to last year.

Some are free events, some raise money for charities and others are bigger displays run by larger companies. Below NewcastleWorld walks you through the options available to you for celebrating Bonfire Night 2022.

Newcastle Racecourse

Newcastle Racecourse will host a fireworks display on Friday evening after a series of races in the late afternoon. Gates for the racing open at 2:30 pm and the last race is 6:15 pm. Fireworks will then start at 7:30 pm with tickets priced at £15 to include both the racing and fireworks. Under 18s go free with a paying adult. Tickets here.

Barmoor Fireworks

Barmoor Fireworks is sure to be popular with free entry for all. It takes place on Friday, November 4 on Barmoor Field, Ryton. The fairground opens at 4 pm and a fireworks display follows at 7 pm. Barmoor Fireworks do ask for any donations to help fund the running of the event and keep it free in future years.

Metro Radio Saltwell Park Fireworks

The big one! Saltwell Park is the go-to display for many in the North East and it looks to be a bumper event in 2022. A lazer show, live DJ set, fairground rides, street entertainers, a dance stage show and plenty of food and drink have all been confirmed for the popular Gateshead park. Tickets must be booked in advance and cost £7.25 - see here.

Gosforth Sport Association

Newcastle Round Table are holding a Fireworks Extravaganza at Gosforth Sport Association on Saturday, November 5. Gates will open at 5 pm for ticket holders to enjoy rides, food and drink before the grand display at 7 pm. Tickets must be bought online ahead of the event and prices range between £4 and £6 with group deals also available. Tickets here.

Novocastrians RFC

Also on Saturday is the annual Novocastrians RFC fireworks display. This takes place in Sutherland Park, Benton with the display starting at 7 pm. Tickets are available at the door and cost £5 per adult and £3 for any under-16s. There is also a ticket available for a car entry at £20, although these are limited. Attendees are asked not to park in surrounding streets.

Blue Flames Sporting Club

Gates for the Blue Flames Sporting Club display open at 4:30 pm on Saturday, November 5 with the display getting going at 7 pm. There will be rides, food, drink and more for attendees. Tickets must be purchased in advance with none being sold on the night. Adults cost £7.50 and children are £5.50. Tickets here.

Blaydon RFC Bonfire and Fireworks

Blaydon RFC will be hosting their 16th annual fireworks display in 2022 after a sell-out crowd last year. The fairground at the club opens at 5 pm on Saturday with fireworks at 7:45 pm. A big pull at this event is the large bonfire too, which will be lit at 6:30 pm. Tickets must be purchased in advance with none available at the door. Entry costs £8 for adults and £4.50 for children with various group savers available. Tickets here.

Rutherford Football Club

If you're a fan of a theme, then Rutherford Football Club is the place to be this Bonfire Night. The display is near Coach Road, Lobley Hill and attendees are encouraged to come as their favourite Disney or Marvel character. There's face paint at the event with a disco in the clubhouse as well as the bonfire and fireworks. The event runs from 6 pm to 11 pm and tickets must be purchased in advance - adults are £9 and children are £7. Tickets here.

Gateshead RFC Fireworks

If you're busy on Friday and Saturday, then head over to Gateshead RFC on Sunday. Gates open at 4:30 pm with fireworks beginning at 6:30 pm. Tickets can be purchased in advance or with cash on the door. There is also limited parking at the Dryden Centre. It is £6 per ticket with under-5s entering for free. Tickets here.
