‘He was brilliant’: Ant and Dec fume after magician is buzzed three times on BGT

Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly have raged over the Britain’s Got Talent judges’ decision not to progress Kimoon Do to the show’s final. The ITV hosts took to Instagram to share their grievances over the treatment of the Korean magician  immediately after his performance. Kimoon Do took to the stage on Thursday to take part in the fourth semi-final of the BGT series.

Dec said: “Well I didn’t think he deserved three buzzers do you?” to which Dec replied: “We were sat there really closely and he is bl**dy brilliant.” Dec added: “I’m sure it looked good on telly.”

Ant and Dec were asked onstage to take part in the performance which consisted of the Korean magician turning a blank deck of cards into spade, heart, diamond and club cards. During Kimoon Do’s act Simon, Amanda and Bruno all hit their red buzzers meaning that he had failed to entertain them.

Amanda, who buzzed first, said: “Even though I recognise that you are a very skillful magician with very good sleight of hand, all brilliantly executed, I just did not think that this was enough for the show. It didn’t blow me away and we needed to set the bar a bit higher.”

In a BGT first, Simon apologised for their rudeness, saying: “You are a very nice man. I also appreciate the fact that you have travelled a long way to be on our show and we have actually been very rude to you. So I apologise.” He went on to clarify: “The problem was we hadn’t got a clue what was going on here. Not a clue. It’s not your fault, I just couldn’t see anything.”

Dec quipped: “So, it’s not your fault but I’m going to buzz you anyway” to which Simon responded: “I was actually buzzing whoever’s idea it was to show that on very small screens.”

Alesha showed her support for the magician by saying: “I don’t think you deserved three buzzers tonight because you are very skillful at what you do” which drew a round of applause from the live audience.

Viewers at home were quick to defend the Korean star with one saying: “The judges were so rude to the magician, buzzing in the final when they were the ones who put him there." Another added: "Buzzers for the magician on #BGT was appalling...so rude!"

Ant and Dec went on to add  an @bgt midshow musings reel to their stories, where Ant questioned: “How did Simon not see that with those X-ray glasses he’s wearing. You could see through walls with those things.”
