Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon, and ex-Strictly Come Dancing judge Bruno Tonioli were back on the judging panel as Newcastle-born TV presenting duo Ant and Dec continued with their hosting duties.

The show kicked off with a sketch featuring Ant and Dec as they tried to locate the missing judges on the cobbles of Coronation Street.

It sees the pair bump into Sally Metcalfe before heading to the Rovers return, where they spot Kirk.

They find Simon’s Rolls Royce parked outside Roy’s Rolls and discover the judges sitting down for lunch. Café worker Shona serves alphabet spaghetti on toast to Simon but picks out only the B, G and T letters for him.

It ends with Ant and Dec saying, “We’re late for auditions guys. Come on. Let’s go, go, go!”

Bruno replies, “they’re very bossy,” and Simon agrees.

The sketch had fans divided with some slamming it and others commenting on how much they loved the crossover.

One person wrote: "Me thinking the intro skit couldn’t get any worse than yesterday’s #bgt #BritainsGotTalent.”

A second added: "I usually love #BGT, but what is with the cheese overload this year?"

Another person joked: “Stephen isn’t about to bump the judges off as well is he?”

"Great start to #BGT loving the coronation street sketch! #Corrie #BGT," a fourth penned, whilst another joked: "Ant and Dec on the Cobbles!? When can I start watching this incredible spin-off?? I always thought Ant might have been related to Gail or Eileen #BGT."

It comes as Ant and Dec pranked head judge Simon Cowell by tampering with his microphone.

The duo appeared on stage with Dec asking Simon if he’d like to say anything.

“I love you. I actually love you,” said Simon, but he then realised that his voice was distorted.

“Why am I sounding like this?” he said.

“Have you had a rough night Simon?” joked Dec.

“You did this, didn’t you?!” laughed Simon as he pointed at the pair.

“What? Us?!” replied Ant laughing.

“Okay maybe... we did!” the presenter added.

Britain’s Got Talent continues on Saturday, 22 April, on ITV1 at 8 pm.
