Vick Hope has revealed how her mother, Adeline Nwosu, managed to sneakily meet Prince Edward. The TV presenter, 33, was invited to speak at the Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award Ceremony at Buckingham Palace earlier this month and brought her mother along with her.

During the ceremony, Vick spoke to young people who have achieved the award about their volunteering and future career goals. She was then invited to line up with other guests to shake hands with Prince Edward, who was appointed the Duke of Edinburgh in March.

As Vick lined up to meet the Duke, as did her mother who managed to work her way into the line-up. Vick told Mail Online: “I was in line to meet the Duke. It’s all very well-orchestrated and official, but I looked at my side and my mum was just there.”

As Prince Edward worked his way along the line to shake hands with the guests, Vick said she noticed the royal's aides looking confused after spotting Adeline there. She added: “You could see [Edward’s] aide thinking, ‘I don’t know who this woman is.’”

As a result, Vick had to step in and introduce her mother to Prince Edward herself. The Prince then did an official handshake with Adeline. Vick later shared footage of the moment on her Instagram alongside a series of photos and videos from the day.

The clip shows Prince Edward joking that there was a “theme going on” in the crowd as Vick, Adeline and the woman next to them were all wearing shades of orange and blue. The caption read: “So lovely to take mum to the Duke Of Edinburgh @dofeuk Gold Award ceremony at Buckingham Palace, where I was invited to meet and speak to so many brilliant young people about volunteering, mental health and pursuing their career ambitions.

“Side note: please watch slide 2 in the knowledge that mum was not supposed to be in the line-up to meet the Duke, no one really knows how she got there (least of all the Duke’s aide) but totally styled it out with confidence and queenly grace. I cannot stop thinking and laughing about it 👑👑👑.”

Much like Vick, fans also found the encounter hilarious, with one commenting: “Love your Mum!! She wasn’t missing out on the action!” and another adding: “LOVE THIS!!! Your mum is the absolute best 😍.”
