Sam Fender took to social media today to confirm that a new album is on its way ahead of his landmark show at St. James’ Park next summer.

The North Shields star has announced a live album recorded during his headline set at Finsbury Park in July is on its way.

The record, which will feature tracks from critically-acclaimed sophomore album Seventeen Going Under as well as breakthrough record Hypersonic Missiles, is set for release on Friday, December 9.

A live version of ‘Getting Started’ has hit platforms today to accompany the news. The album is available for pre-order now on CD and vinyl.

Fender said: “This show was a real highlight for me and the boys, so we’re buzzing to share it with you.”

The Finsbury Park show was Fender’s biggest headline set to date with 45,000 people in attendance - although that will be eclipsed by a 50,000 strong crowd in Newcastle next summer.

A mini-festival accompanied the star’s show with two stages in the iconic park - one named after the singer’s late North Shields pub landlord.

The news comes just days after Fender sent Geordie fans into a meltdown by confirming a show at St. James’ Park next year.

The singer will perform at the home of Newcastle United on Friday, June 9 2023 in what will be a monumental night on Tyneside - more information on tickets, which go on sale later this week, is here.

Fender is a well-known Newcastle United fan, regularly posting clips of him watching The Magpies and famously partying with fellow fans on takeover day last year, before showing up to BBC Breakfast hungover. On Saturday, when Eddie Howe’s side faced Crystal Palace, Fender was brought onto the pitch to greet the crowd before the match.
