Amanda Staveley was left feeling proud after Newcastle United beat Fulham 1-0 to continue their march towards the European qualification places.

Eddie Howe’s side left it late to claim a vital three points at Craven Cottage with Bruno Guimaraes - on his 100th club appearances - netting in the 81st minute.

It kept the Magpies eighth in the Premier League table, one point and one position behind West Ham United, who came from 1-0 down to win 2-1 at Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Watching the afternoon unfold from the Cottage was co-owners Staveley and Mehrdad Ghodoussi, and both took to Instagram to hail the travelling Newcastle supporters.

Staveley said: “An amazing game! Thank you to all our fans who came to support us at Craven Cottage today. So proud of our team, as always 🖤🤍 #howaythelads” Meanwhile, Ghodoussi simply uploaded a video of the sold out away end with the caption “the best”.

It was only the fourth time Newcastle have won on the road in the Premier League this season, and the first time they’ve kept a clean sheet away since the 8-0 win at Sheffield United at September.

"It does feel like a big three points off the back of the week we have had,” said Howe, whose side picked up four points from back-to-back home games against West Ham United and Everton.

“We have a small squad at the moment, we are really stretched but everyone is really fighting for the cause. It was a very difficult game today. Fulham started well, we didn't. it tooka huge effort from the lads to get the win in the end.”
