Borussia Dortmund winger reveals what Brighton star has told him about Newcastle United atmosphere

Brighton and Hove Albion star Pascal Gross has given Borussia Dortmund winger Julian Brandt the lowdown on Newcastle United ahead of Wednesday night’s Champions League clash at St James’ Park (kick-off 8pm).
Eddie Howe’s side welcome the Bundesliga outfit to Tyneside hoping to continue their excellent start to the ‘group of death’. The Magpies currently sit top of Group F after drawing in Milan and beating Paris Saint-Germain last time out.

Hide AdDortmund, meanwhile, sit bottom after losing away to PSG before playing out a stalemate with AC Milan. Brandt has done his research on United, with the help of Gross. The pair were recently on a USA Tour with the German national team.

“A very good atmosphere awaits us there,” Gross told Brandt. “It’s different from City or Chelsea.”
Brandt added: “Even though they produced a very good performance against PSG, we must go there full of confidence. The group is so wild that anything can happen. We absolutely need a victory.”
Meanwhile, Dortmund head coach Edin Terzic is expecting an “intensive challenge”.

“It will be an intensive challenge that we’re extremely looking forward to,” the 40-year-old said. “They have made very smart transfers. I still know and appreciate from my time in England. An excellent coach.”
Heading into the game, Newcastle sit sixth in the Premier League table and are eight games unbeaten in all competitions.
Dortmund’s only defeat this campaign came against PSG with the Germain giants sitting fourth in the Bundesliga table.
