Newcastle United and Chelsea are reportedly among a number of Premier League clubs eyeing a move for Egyptian international Ibrahim Adel.

The 22-year-old winger has been heavily linked with a move to England in recent months after impressing for Egyptian club Pyramids FC and during Egypt’s run to the final of the African Under-23s Cup of Nations earlier this year, where he was named as player of the tournament. There were reports suggesting Mo Salah had recommend Adel to Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp featuring alongside the winger when he gained the latest of his four senior Egypt caps last year.

However, Chelsea are believed to be the club showing the most interest in Adel and they plan to make use of their recent linkup with French club Strasbourg to ensure he gets experience of playing in Europe.

Speaking on the Talking Transfers podcast, journalist Graham Bailey said: “We’re told on this one that Chelsea’s interest is to send him to Strasbourg as well, Ibrahim Adel, he’s a player we have spoken about before, Mo Salah recommended him to Liverpool.

“He is one of the best young players in African football. He has been for a little while, he plays for Pyramids in Egypt, Mo Salah does like him and he recommended him to Liverpool.”

90Min have claimed Newcastle have ‘expressed an interest’ in the winger but would also face competition from Brighton and Hove Albion, Brentford, Aston Villa, West Ham United, Burnley and Championship club Southampton. Clubs in France, Spain and Germany are also showing an interest in Adel - but the report reveals the winger has a ‘preference’ for a move to England.
