There may be a few new faces to greet them when back on Tyneside and these are the latest transfer rumours from St James' Park.

Future investment could continue with Hertha Berlin wonderkid

Newcastle United could continue to invest in the future by making a move for Hertha Berlin wonderkid Derry Scherhant.

The club may have a return to the Champions League to prepare for next season but have shown a keen eye for moving in on future stars early. Newcastle have already signed Gambian forward Yankuba Mineth this summer and brought in Harrison Ashby in January.

The Telegraph report that the Magpies want 20-year-old Scherhant for similar reasons with Hertha Berlin potentially looking to sell after relegation from the Bundesliga last season.

The German didn't fully break through into the first team last season but did gain experience with a few part appearances and is known for his versatility and ability to play across the front three.

Chelsea man addresses future after Newcastle United link

Chelsea midfielder Connor Gallagher has responded to rumours surrounding his future after being linked with a move to Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur.

There's expected to be a big clearout at Stamford Bridge this summer as Mauricio Pochettino takes the reins and after some big money spending from Todd Boehly.

The England international was one of those names touted with a move away and linked to clubs known to be in the market for a midfielder such as Spurs and the Magpies.

Gallagher, who came off the bench for England against North Macedonia on Monday night, has now spoken about those rumours and said that he 'absolutely' planned to work under Pochettino next term.

Gallagher added: "Of course, I’m a Chelsea player and I love Chelsea. It’s been a really tough season for me and the whole team and the whole club at Chelsea. I think we’ll just working as hard as we can to try to get Chelsea back to where they belong.

"Obviously, he’s a top manager and I think everyone at Chelsea is happy he’s there and we’re looking forward to it."
