Crystal Palace chairman breaks silence as Newcastle United launch new Marc Guehi bid
The Magpies have been locked in talks to sign the 24-year-old having saw two offers turned down by the Eagles last week.
United returned with a third bid over the weekend, understood to be worth £55million with achievable add-ons to take the total past the £60million mark.

Parish has since described the former Chelsea defender as a “generational talent” as he broke his silence on Newcastle’s pursuit.
He told Sky Sports News: “Nobody has got to the valuation yet. If you want a superstar player you’ve got to pay superstar money. This is a player we love a lot and if we start the season with him we’ll be a better team no doubt.
“Everybody’s wishes have to be taken into account but we are nowhere near the point where we need to make a decision. We’ll cross these bridges as and when we come to them.

“If someone else wants to have him then they need to make it really difficult for us and at the moment that’s not the situation we’re in.”
Asked if he had spoken to Guehi personally, Parish replied: “Marc Guehi is as decent human being and footballer as you could ever possibly hope to meet. We all know the situation, we don’t need to be having discussions about it.
“Marc is absolutely loyal to Crystal Palace. Marc wants to progress his career, of course he does, and if the right opportunity is there and it’s right for us I think it’s something he might be interested in but he’s certainly not putting any pressure on the club whatsoever.”

Hide AdGuehi was back in action for Palace on Sunday against Nantes after returning from the extended break he got for reaching the Euro 2024 final with England.
And as it stands, the defender will be involved in Palace’s Premier League opener away to Brentford this weekend. Newcastle, meanwhile, host newly-promoted Southampton at St James’ Park.
Eddie Howe’s side may be forced to explore other options if Palace, as strongly suggested, play hardball. Prior to opening talks with Guehi, sources in Italy claimed Newcastle had been pushing to sign AC Milan defender Malick Thiaw.
