Eddie Howe could hand starts to Tino Livramento and Lewis Hall for Newcastle United’s Carabao Cup clash against Manchester City tomorrow evening (kick-off 8pm).

The young full-backs joined the Magpies during the summer transfer window but are yet to make their full debuts. Livramento has appeared as a substitute in Premier League matches at Man City and Sheffield United, while Hall’s cameo at Bramall Lane on Sunday was his first appearance.

With the Magpies preparing for four games in 12 days before the November international break, head coach Howe is ready to make changes for the visit of last season’s treble winners and admitted Livramento and Hall could “possibly” feature.

“Patience is an undervalued quality,” Howe said. “They are both young players with rich potential but we need to be careful with both of them and manage them correctly so they’re able to give their best whenever they play.

“Possibly you will see them tomorrow. As I say, I haven’t formalised my team yet.”

Supporters are keen to sign the English duo in action with the Magpies spending the best part of £63million on signing them. Livramento was a £35m arrival from Southampton while Hall’s move from Chelsea will be made permanent next summer for an initial £28m before add-ons.

Asked about pair’s lack of game time last Friday Howe: “You will see them on the pitch. When? I’m not sure. ’ll always pick a team that I think gives us the best chance of winning.

“Tino is training very well but he’s fighting with Kieran who’s been outstanding for us this season. Tino we see being a huge part of our future and it’s the same with Lewis.

“Lewis has come having played no minutes during pre-season. He’s an outstanding prospect and is again training very well. We’re building up and competing for that starting spot.”

Likewise, Manchester City’s starting XI is also expected to be rotated as Pep Guardiola deals with the busy schedule and a strong injury list.
