Newcastle face a tricky trip to Arsenal in Gameweek 19, but could fantasy football managers going for Chelsea and Fulham options regret dropping Miguel Almiron?

Fantasy football managers are daring to sell or bench in-form Newcastle United star Miguel Almiron in favour of other assets for Gameweek 19 as Chelsea and Fulham prepare for a Double Gameweek.

Magpies man Almiron has only been outscored by three players in the official Fantasy Premier League game so far this season - fellow Newcastle man Kieran Trippier, Spurs striker Harry Kane and, of course, the prolific Erling Haaland at Manchester City.

However, despite Almiron's 104 total points and eight goals in the 10 previous Gameweeks, many of his 41.8% of managers are choosing to relegate the midfielder to the bench or even out of their squad for Gameweek 19.

A total of 77,791 managers have sold Almiron so far this week with just a few hours left until the deadline for Gameweek 19 at 4 pm on Monday, January 2.

It comes as Chelsea and Fulham play twice this week, known as a Double Gameweek. Graham Potter's men face Manchester City and Marco Silva's side take on Leicester before the two teams meet each other on Thursday, January 12.

With players being given double the chance to score points, it's unsurprising to see fantasy assets from Chelsea and Fulham amongst some of the most popular to buy for the Gameweek. Aleksandr Mitrovic is the most bought player so far, whilst Mason Mount, Kyle Havertz, Marc Cucurella and Andreas Pereira also feature in the top 10 most transferred in.

As time edges closer to the Gameweek 19 deadline, fantasy football managers online have shared conundrums over selling Miguel Almiron. A trip to the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday night to take on a free-flowing Arsenal side is helping provide an excuse to jump ship.

Indeed, Almiron has never scored or assisted in his eight appearances against the Gunners - although the Paraguayan has never had a purple patch quite like his current one, and Mikel Arteta's side have only kept one clean sheet at home this season.

A number of managers on Twitter are looking at Fulham's Andreas for Almiron, with some also throwing out the idea of a punt on Chelsea man Jorginho.

Some are also looking away from the tempting Double Gameweek sides to get in Manchester United star Marcus Rashford in Almiron's place. Currently owned by 35.5% of managers, Rashford has two goals and an assist in his last two appearances - proving he is the key man in Eric Ten Haag's side after his game-changing substitution against Wolves.

Even those fantasy managers keeping Almiron seem to be of the overwhelming opinion to bench him for the trip to Arsenal in favour of other players.

One player wrote: "Almiron is getting a rest from my starting 11 this week. Not comfortable with it but Rashford at home just looks too good."

Another said: "I’m benching Almiron but his red hot form means bench troll points are highly likely. Let’s not beat ourselves up."
