Former West Ham winger pens 50-word farewell message as Newcastle United decision made

The former West Ham United youngster made his Newcastle United debut against Chelsea.

Amadou Diallo has confirmed he will leave Newcastle United when his contract expires at the end of next month.

The 21-year-old moved to Tyneside from Premier League rivals West Ham United two years go following a successful trial. He made a number of appearances for the under-21s but spent parts of the 2023-24 season involved with Eddie Howe’s first-team.

In a campaign decimated by injuries, Diallo was called up to the Premier League matchday squad on five occasions, making his debut as a late substitute in the 4-1 victory at home to Chelsea in November.

Diallo made the post-season trip to Australia where he played the final half-hour and scored his penalty in the shootout win over Tottenham Hotspur. Less than 48 hours later, the winger completed 90 minutes as a youthful side lost 8-0 to the A-League All Stars.

And that will be Diallo’s final act in Newcastle colours after confirming his release. Taking to social media, Diallo said: “My time at @nufc has come to an end.

“Firstly, I would like to thank the club for giving me the great opportunity of playing for them. I would also like to give a massive thank you to the fans for their support as I really enjoyed representing the club. ⚫️⚪️”

Several youngsters are set to leave Newcastle at the end of their contracts this summer. Michael Ndiweni and Kyle Crossley have already announced their departures, while the likes of Lucas De Bolle and Dylan Stephenson are also expected to leave.
