St James’ Park is undergoing some redevelopment over the summer, getting Newcastle United’s stadium Champions League ready for next season.

Safe standing is being reintroduced on a trial basis at the beginning of the season in the South-East corner of the stadium as well as in the away end. But there is all some changes happening at the Gallowgate end.

The closure of the Gallowgate Club has made way for a new high-end hospitality suite called ‘The Rooftops.’

According to reports, the new lounge will cost £7,000 + VAT per person for the season (with a minimum of two seats per contract), a staggering increase from the £1,700 cost of the Gallowgate.

The rise in cost is believed to be the price of success, providing more opportunities for United to grow commercially.

The Rooftops is set to be the most ‘sophisticated’ of the lounges, ‘with a touch of elegance.’ Small plates will be served before the match and a bar will serve up all-inclusive cocktails and champagne throughout. A DJ will entertain guests after the match too.
