Newcastle United are facing stiff competition from several Premier League clubs for Copenhagen sensation Roony Bardghji, according to reports.

A stellar breakout season has resulted in interest from across the continent for the Sweden under-21 international. Born in Kuwait, Bardghji moved to the Nordic nation at a young age and is on the cusp of a senior call-up.

Impressive performances include a masterclass against Manchester United in November - earning Copenhagen an unlikely 4-3 victory with an 87th-minute winner. Bardghji - capable of playing on either flank - has bagged 11 goals across all competitions this season.

His heroics for Copenhagen have generated speculation about a potential move to the Premier League. La Liga giants Real Madrid and Barcelona are also rumoured to be crying for his signature.

Newcastle’s name has been mentioned with reports linking Bardghji with a potential January move. That never materialised but, with one year left on his contract, Toon chiefs could return in the summer.

Question marks remain over Miguel Almiron and Jacob Murphy, with a section of fans calling for a new wideman. Anthony Gordon and Harvey Barnes are fighting for the left-wing spot but Eddie Howe's options are limited on the right.

Copenhagen would reportedly do business for around £17million - a hefty fee for a prospect. For context, Newcastle forked out £7million to sign Yankuba Minteh last summer before loaning him to Feyenoord.

Fresh claims from HITC suggest Aston Villa are the latest club to have entered the race. Unai Emery’s men are on the cusp of Champions League football, an achievement that could prove the deciding factor in Bardghji’s decision.
