In-form Newcastle United star Sean Longstaff appears to be making all the right decisions on and off the field at the moment with a week of footballing action to remember both in reality and in the fantasy world.

The 26-year-old from North Shields is one of the stars who has been transformed under the stewardship of Eddie Howe and the midfielder has worked his way into becoming a key cog in the Magpies machine. Longstaff captained his boyhood club for the first time on his 150th appearance on Wednesday night as he helped Newcastle United to an impressive 3-0 Carabao Cup win over Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Howe fielded a much-changed side against the Red Devils and Longstaff stepped up to the captaincy plate after a series of impressive performances in recent weeks. The star has started each of the last six Premier League games and every Champions League fixture so far - bagging goals against Paris Saint-Germain, Sheffield United and Crystal Palace.

Longstaff has clearly had his head screwed on while playing and that form has translated into his fantasy football side too. The official Fantasy Premier League game is very popular with members of the Magpies squad with seven players creating their own mini-league to take on one another.

The Geordie midfielder had been struggling this term, languishing towards the bottom of the league alongside Anthony Gordon, but made a genius transfer before the last round of fixtures. The player swapped out misfiring Fulham striker Raul Jiminez in favour of Arsenal forward Eddie Nketiah and reaped the benefits when the Gunners man bagged a hat-trick against Sheffield United. Nketiah brought home a haul of 17 points, while Longstaff also benefited from a 13-point Moussa Diaby return in Aston Villa's win over Luton.

The transfer saw Longstaff move to fifth in the players' league with Fabian Schar still in the lead. Kieran Trippier and Matty Targett make up the rest of the top three.
