FC Midtjylland are open to selling Newcastle United and Arsenal target Gustav Isaksen - but only if certain conditions are met.

The Denmark Under-21 international has reportedly been watched by both Premier League clubs after impressing in the Europa League and his side’s domestic campaign this season. Isaksen has scored four goals and provided one assist in Midtjylland’s 14 Superliga games but it is in European competition where he has really caught the eye.

The 21-year-old wideman scored home and away against Serie A club Lazio and found the net against Dutch giants Feyenoord as his side came through a remarkable group stage where all three clubs and Austrian side Sturm Graz all finished on eight points. Goal difference helped Midtjylland progress as runners-up and that had led to speculation they may look to hold on to Isaksen to allow him to take part in the knockout stages after Christmas.

One club official has already indicated an ‘agreement’ has been reached with the winger, his family and his agents to allow him to leave at the end of the season and set out the demands that must be met to allow a transfer to be finalised.

The FC Midtjylland CEO told Danish outlet Tipsbladet: “We have made an agreement with Gustav, his family and agent that he will stay until the summer, and then we will sell. I was made aware a week ago that the biggest sale in the history of the Superliga is €20m (£17m), and if he has to leave, we have to beat it.”

Isaksen did not feature for his side on Sunday evening as they suffered a 2-1 home defeat against Odense.
