Kieran Trippier facing Newcastle United ban ahead of Tottenham Hotspur clash

Newcastle United right-back Kieran Trippier continues to walk a disciplinary tightrope.

Newcastle United star Kieran Trippier is walking a disciplinary tightrope heading into tonight's clash at Everton (kick-off 7:30pm).

The Magpies right-back hasn't missed a Premier League match for over a year but is on the verge of serving a one-match suspension for accumulating five yellow cards.

Trippier picked up his fourth caution of the campaign in the 4-1 win over Chelsea last month but managed to avoid going in the referee's book during Saturday's 4-1 win at home to Manchester United.

However, the 33-year-old must avoid a booking until the trip to Liverpool on January 1, 2024, which is five games away, to escape a Premier League ban.

Newcastle travel Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday afternoon before also facing Fulham, Luton Town and Nottingham Forest.

Both Anthony Gordon and Bruno Guimaraes sat out of matches away to West Ham United and AFC Bournemouth, respectively, after reaching the five yellow cards threshold.

Guimaraes still has five cautions to his name while Gordon has six. Any player who picks up 10 yellow cards before their club's 33rd Premier League fixture will be handed a two-match suspension.

Elsewhere, Jamaal Lascelles and Joelinton are on three yellow cards, and Fabian Schar and Dan Burn have two. Callum Wilson, Miguel Almiron, Sven Botman, Tino Livramento, Harvey Barnes, Matt Targett and Matt Ritchie all have one.
