'Massive player' - Newcastle United have found £15m back-up after transfer decision

Joe Willock grabbed the headlines for his two goals against Birmingham City - but there was another Newcastle United attacker who also caught the eye.
Saturday’s FA Cup fourth round visit to St Andrew’s was only the third time Will Osula has started for Newcastle following his £15million move from Sheffield United last summer.

And his display was made even more impressive by playing in an unfamiliar right-wing role. Despite being a recognised striker, Osula took to it - mostly - like a natural.
Showing pace and power throughout the first-half, the Denmark youth international had a hand in both goals, cutting back Callum Wilson’s cross for Joe Willock before setting up Wilson for 2-1.
Osula’s assist for Wilson was somewhat accidental as he somehow kicked the ball onto his left leg rather than into the back of the net. But kudos went to Osula a few moments earlier when he produced a driving run and save from goalkeeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell.

“Yeah, I definitely agree with that,” he told NewcastleWorld. “I thought he was an outlet for us, his pace and strength and directness were key for us in that first half and us finding our way back into the game.
“He's still got some areas of his game that needs development, but he's certainly moving in the right direction and he's unlucky not to score, I think.”
Will Osula is ‘very, very close to playing’
With Miguel Almiron's departure leaving Jacob Murphy as the squad’s only recognised right forward and further injuries to the likes of Anthony Gordon and Harvey Barnes, Osula may again be used in a wide area in the near future.

“H's got goals in him, I think he's a natural goalscorer. There are a few rough edges that we need to improve, keep working and developing, but he's a massive player for us now.
“He's very, very close to playing, with the squad size that we have, he's a valuable squad player. He's also got a great attitude, he's committed to his work, he's training every day to improve. Delighted that he's got some reward today.”
