Miguel Almiron has quickly settled back into life in Atlanta - but memories of Newcastle haven’t faded.
Following eight years at St James’ Park, where he racked up 223 appearances and 30 goals, the Paraguayan departed in January to re-join the club Newcastle United bought him from for a then club-record £21million.

“Miggy was a very special player and person,” said Newcastle boss Eddie Howe. “He will be greatly missed by everyone. Miggy had a bubbly and bright personality, he was ultra professional.
“He would always be in looking after himself, eating the right foods and recovering, he was a really good role model. Miggy is going to be greatly missed as a player and as a person. He always gave his best, in any moment."
“The time has come for me to say goodbye – to all of you and to a club with such an incredible history as Newcastle,” Almiron wrote on Instagram. “I’ll always be grateful to the club for giving me the chance to play in the best league of the world, making a childhood dream come true.

Miguel Almiron’s wife admits to missing Newcastle
They do say memories last a lifetime and that statement appears to ring true for the Almiron family.
This week, the 31-year-old’s wife Alexia Notto invited questions from her Instagram followers and one of them took the opportunity to ask if she missed Newcastle. Using the tears in the eyes emoji, Notto wrote: “Yes, but I’m also happy to be back in Atlanta. My heart is divided.”

The family have continued to support Newcastle from afar and will have witnessed the Carabao Cup final winners that sparked incredible scenes across the city. Almiron too received a winners medal for his efforts having started the early rounds against Nottingham Forest and AFC Wimbledon, as well as appearing as a substitute in the quarter-final against Brentford and the semi-final first leg away to Arsenal.
