'Sorry '- Matthias Jaissle keeps Newcastle United supporters guessing on key duo's absence
Newcastle United have been without Matias Fernandez-Pardo and Lewis Miley for the last two matches.
Newcastle United were again without Matias Fernandez-Pardo and Lewis Miley for their Carabao Cup last-16 defeat to Everton.
Fernandez-Pardo sat out the 2-0 Premier League win at Crystal Palace on Sunday due to illness, while Miley was also absent because of a glute problem.
Magpies head coach Matthias Jaissle admitted both players remained doubts for the trip to Merseyside. As it happened, neither was named in the matchday squad.

Matias Fernandez-Pardo & Lewis Miley latest
Newcastle face Everton again on Monday night, this time at St James’ Park in the Premier League, but Jaissle was unable to provide a definitive update on the duo.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, Jaissle told The Gazette: “Sorry, right now I cannot give you an update on them.
“Hopefully they can make progress in the next days to be able to maybe make it in the squad, but right now I cannot update you really.”
Neither Fernandez-Pardo nor Miley have featured since the 1-0 home defeat to Aston Villa.
Fernandez-Pardo felt unwell during the game and had to be withdrawn just before the hour mark, while Miley completed 90 minutes before reporting a glute issue.
"Unfortunately, he was not able to be in the squad [at Crystal Palace] due to an issue with his glutes,” Jaissle previously confirmed. “But hopefully, we will bring him back as soon as possible.
"The medical department is doing a great job."
Will Osula doubt, two already ruled out
Meanwhile, Will Osula is a doubt after being forced off at half-time with an ankle problem.
Jaissle is without goalkeeper Ewen Jaouen and Tino Livramento, with the latter unlikely to return until after the upcoming international break.
