Newcastle United crazy London non-league outfit Hanwell Town is hoping to show off their club to NUFC fans travelling down to Brentford this weekend.

Hanwell Town went viral on Twitter earlier this year when Magpies' supporters got wind of the team that play in black and white and with a Geordie spirit 280 miles away.

The club saw an influx of followers and have now gone from just a few thousand to nearly 20,000 after the widespread support.

Hanwell Town was formed 102 years ago by workers from Newcastle in London who were brought together by their love of United.

This weekend Eddie Howe's side travel to Brentford for a 3 pm kick-off on Saturday.

With the Brentford Community Stadium just a few miles away from Hanwell Town, the non-league club is hoping to welcome Newcastle fans for a drink before the match.

Elsa, Hanwell Town's Head of Marketing and Social Media, said: "We’re in the perfect spot for Newcastle fans coming off the motorway, we’re just off the A40 - about 20 minutes from the M25 and 15 minutes from the M1.

"With a large bar and outdoor veranda, Hanwell is the ideal place to grab a pre-match pint if you’re travelling by coach/car.

"We’ve kept our usual matchday prices of £4 a pint (£4.50 for a Guinness) and will also have our club shop open.

"We’re excited to meet fans we’ve been interacting with over the past year, some of our fans will also be down at the ground to say hello."

Hanwell Town is a little more difficult to reach on public transport, although is less than an hour on the underground from London King’s Cross.

One fan on social media has already said that a coach of 50 Newcastle fans is stopping by the club before the game.

Elsa also spoke to NewcastleWorld back in January when the club enjoyed its time in the social media spotlight.

She explained how it all started with a challenge for the club to have the most followers in the league.

She said: "That was us, Basingstoke, Bracknell, Thatcham, whoever else... I just re-tweeted it and said, 'I wonder how many of these 5,000 are Newcastle United fans?'.

"That started it off really.

"People were asking, 'why Newcastle fans?'.

"So after that, we put up a graphic we made a few months ago explaining why we are nicknamed The Geordies, that sparked it up a little bit more."

In the days that followed the club saw a wild demand from Newcastle fans wanting a Hanwell Town kit, having to launch a pre-order system just to satisfy demand.
