Newcastle United are on cloud nine after continuing their fine start to the season on Sunday.

The Magpies saw off Tottenham away from home, with Callum Wilson opening the scoring and Miguel Almiron continuing his excellent form with another goal. Eddie Howe’s men are now up to fourth - albeit they have played one more than some of their rivals - and Newcastle fans are already dreaming of qualification for Europe this season, as early as it may be.

Aston Villa are next up for the Magpies, but in the meantime, we have rounded up all the latest news and transfer rumours surrounding St James’ Park.

Chelsea watching on

Chelsea are said to be interested in signing Newcastle star Bruno Guimaraes. According to Simon Phillips, Chelsea have identified Guimaraes as a possible signing ahead of the January transfer window.

“I’ve been told at the moment, Chelsea are looking at Edson Alvarez from Ajax, Moises Caicedo from Brighton, Weston McKennie from Juventus, and Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle. The latter seems ambitious. Chelsea have a shortlist of midfielders they are looking at for a priority area in January, and again in the summer,” Phillips told GiveMeSport. “Declan Rice is more possible come the summer rather than in January, same goes for Jude Bellingham, but I think he goes to either Liverpool or Real Madrid.”

It would be a surprise if Newcastle allowed Guimaraes to leave any time soon.

Newcastle are said to be interested in Brighton star Leandro Trossard. According to Graeme Bailey via the Talking Transfers podcast, the Magpies would actually have a good chance of landing the midfielder in the January transfer window.

It’s claimed Brighton could accept an offer of around £25million for Trossard, despite the midfielder’s good form this season. That’s because Trossard is out of contract at the end of this season, and he may hold off on signing a new deal if there is a big opportunity just around the corner.
