A reported Newcastle United transfer target could have delivered a hint he is ready to preparing for a move during the January transfer window.

The 18-year-old has scored 10 goals in 24 appearances for his club and captured headlines across Europe when he scored a dramatic late winner in his side's 4-3 win over Manchester United in a Champions League group stage tie earlier this month.

The likes of Newcastle, Chelsea, Barcelona and Nice are all said to have taken an interest in the young talent as he continues to show why he is one of the brightest prospects in the European game.

The youngster's progress was expected to be rewarded with a maiden call-up to the senior Sweden squad but his name was absent when Janne Andersson named his selection for their final two Euro 2024 qualifiers over the last week.

When asked about his non-selection, the youngster told TNT Sports: "Of course I'm unhappy that I haven't been selected, really. It's actually crazy that I'm not there. But I'm not complaining, taking it as it comes. But it's sick, really. I think I deserve it. You get a little angry, because you're just waiting for a call from the A national team.”

However, despite that obvious disappointment, a recent switch of agents to the prominent CAA Base agency had led to talk Bardghji is preparing to step on to the 'biggest stage' over the coming years.

Speaking to Fabrizio Romano, Bardghji's new agent, Christian Emile, said: "He’s one of the most exciting talents in the world and also the future of Swedish football since Zlatan, it’s natural that he is being monitored by major clubs. It’s too early to say now… but one thing is for sure — you’ll get used to seeing Roony perform on the biggest stage.”

Newcastle enjoy a positive relationship with CAA Base, who played a part in the signings of Kieran Trippier and Chris Wood during the January 2022 transfer window and also represent Magpies youngsters Jordan Hackett, Amadou Diallo and Dylan Stephenson.
