Will Osula is set to undergo his Newcastle United medical ahead of completing his transfer from Sheffield United.

The Magpies agreed a £15million deal, including add-ons, for the 21-year-old forward over the weekend, and NewcastleWorld understands he is due at club’s training today (Monday).

Osula will become the club’s fifth senior summer signing after John Ruddy, Odysseas Vlachodimos, Lloyd Kelly and Lewis Hall, whose loan from Chelsea was made permanent for an initial £28m.

The Norwegian under-21s will provide back-up to Alexander Isak and Callum Wilson as he looks to fulfil his potential under Eddie Howe.

Osula made 21 appearances for Sheffield United last season but only nine of them were starts. The attacker has netted three goals for the Blades, but they all came in the FA Cup. He is yet to score a goal in England top two tiers.

During a loan spell at Derby County, Osula netted five goals in 21 outings.

Meanwhile, Newcastle have opened talks with Crystal Palace over defender Marc Guehi but an agreement isn’t close.

Palace reportedly want at least £65m for the England man. A number high profile clubs are also interested after his impressive showing at Euro 2024

Howe was asked about both players after Saturday’s 2-0 friendly defeat to Yokohama F. Marinos but typically gave nothing away.

“Our efforts in the transfer market are ongoing,” said United’s head coach. “I’m out of touch with all of those movements but I know we are trying. Hopefully we can bring you news soon. I’m not going to talk individually on deals.”
