Huge Tino Livramento injury update emerges hours before Newcastle United vs Bournemouth
Tino Livramento has not played since England’s victory over New Zealand ahead of the World Cup in June.
Tino Livramento is back in the Newcastle United squad to face Bournemouth this afternoon.
The 23-year-old last appeared in England’s friendly win over New Zealand in June. On the eve of the World Cup, his dreams were shattered when he suffered a calf injury.
Several niggles have hampered Livramento’s progress since joining Newcastle in 2023. While talented - hence his Three Lions recognition - the versatile full-back started just 14 Premier League games all season.
In his absence, a certain Amar Dedic has burst onto the scene to make the right-back spot his own. Jaissle’s first signing has arguably been Newcastle’s best player so far this season.
Tino Livramento boost
However, welcoming Livramento back would still be considered a huge boost to the Magpies. Dedic and Lewis Hall are the only two first first-team options at full-back.
In footage released by the club, Jaissle was snapped putting the squad through their places before facing Bournemouth today. Livramento can be seen in the background - the first hint that he could be involved in the matchday squad.
NewcastleWorld can confirm that Livramento is at St James’ Park and will feature in Jaissle’s squad. Whether the defender features at any stage remains to be seen.
Matthias Jaissle bluff?
Speaking pre-match, Jaissle suggested the Cherries game would come too soon for Livramento. He told reporters: "It is too early to say on Tino. He was partially involved so we need to be smart with his progress now.
“We need to wait until he is 100% ready. He has huge potential and we can't wait to have him back. Joelinton is out for a couple of weeks. I am really confident that he will be back as soon as possible."
Matthias Jaissle on Amar Dedic
Jaissle also praised Dedic’s contribution since joining the club. He added: "Amar has been exceptional so far. (I am) pleased with how fast he has adapted to the team, the playing style, the league. He knows how I want to play football. Amazing start, hopefully he can continue in the same way."
