Newcastle United star Callum Wilson mocked West Ham United supporters for trying to tease Magpies fans about their success in the Europa Conference League last year. The talisman returned to the popular Footballers’ Football Podcast this week to catch up with pal and Hammers forward Michail Antonio. It was the first time both appeared on the show since the two clubs met before the international break in a 2-2 draw and that fixture was very much a talking topic.

Towards the end of the episode, Wilson and Antonio looked forward to their respective European commitments this week and the Newcastle United man found himself laughing at West Ham's unbeaten run in Europe. "Name the best team you've played in those 17 games," Wilson taunted Antonio.

The England international went on to recall a moment he witnessed while visiting the London Stadium this month and said: "Do you know what made me laugh? We played down at your place and I had to start laughing right. I'm sitting on the bench, taking in the atmosphere and it's, 'European champions you'll never sing that'. I'm like, you sound like Michail! You're bragging about the wrong trophy."

A bemused Antonio replied that the fans were 'singing facts' and pointed out that Wilson and Newcastle United would be equally happy with any European success.

The two also clashed over their predictions for the rest of the Premier League seasons as they jostled over which of their respective clubs would finish higher in the top flight come next summer. The debate centred around signs of a resurgence from Chelsea as Mauricio Pochettino's side showed signs of life against Arsenal.

Wilson said: "I say it how I think it is. I think Chelsea will finish above West Ham though. I think they'll finish in the top half, I don't think you [West Ham] will. Maybe 11th. Chelsea will be in the top eight teams, they're too good to not. I think personally, being honest, Newcastle will finish above West Ham."

Antonio, who was slightly more cautious than Wilson, replied: "We're definitely going to finish in the top half. I don't know what you're going on about. We're finishing definitely top eight. I think Chelsea will finish in the top six. - We'll see. We'll talk about the end of the season."
