Newcastle United star teases £50m transfer deal with cheeky social media post

Transfer target James Maddison has teased his rumoured Newcastle United move on social media- with the help of Callum Wilson.

The pair are currently training with the England squad ahead of their two Euro qualifiers but have taken the time to wind up fans by playing into the relentless rumour of a summer transfer for the Leicester City man.

Newcastle United are believed to be leading the race to nab the footballer who is keen to jump ship following the relegation of the Foxes. Despite maintained interest from Tottenham Hotspur, the 26-year-old prefers the idea of Champions League football.

On Instagram, Maddison posted a photo of him and Wilson playing pool- pretty harmless, right? However, Newcastle’s no.9 took it a step further by reposting the photo to his own story with a cryptic comment.

“Teaching @madders a lesson,” Wilson wrote with the content emoji followed by the unsure one.

It’s long been reported Maddison is Eddie Howe’s number one target for the summer window. Newcastle targeted him last summer but faced two rejected bids from Leicester.

On Twitter, the Instagram story got cogs turning in the heads of some United fans, with one saying: “Wilson and Maddison chilling, what a tease. Surely he knows what he’s doing with this!”

Last week, Wilson named his England teammate in his dream Premier League 5-a-side, so it’s no surprise the pair are hanging out. No doubt United’s top scorer for last season is ‘teaching’ Maddison how great the Magpies are.
