The supporters group promised their ‘biggest ever’ display for the final home game of the season.

Newcastle United supporters group Wor Flags brought down the curtain on a dramatic season at St James Park with a stunning display ahead of Monday’s home game with Arsenal.

All four sides of the Magpies historic home were involved as the remarkable images were beamed around the world by Sky Sports.

Supporters in The Sir John Hall stand all raised flags to create a display showing the iconic ‘Blue Star’ that adorned United kits during the 1980s and 1990s.

Flags with ‘United’ in gold lettering were shown across the East Stand and the Gallowgate End - where the displays originally took place - showed a banner of one of the popular dressing room photos with Newcastle United Football Club either side.

The Milburn Stand was not left out as they put on a spectacular showing of black and white as Wor Flags delivered on their pre-match promise.

The display more than met the approval of Magpies supporters on social media.

Twitter user @ChrisPage2311 said “Unbelievable effort @worflags” and @bethnufc3 tweeted “The stadium looks incredible. Thank you @worflags for everything you’ve done for this team this season.”

@NUFCcook added: “It really is unreal how much of a shift the wor flags lot put in and it genuinely makes a difference on the pitch.”

Even former Sunderland star Don Hutchison got involved.
