Newcastle United summer target Raphinha has reportedly told Leeds United he will not participate in the Whites’ pre-season preparations.

The Brazilian has been continuiously linked with a move away from Elland Road and while the Magpies are taking a watching brief on the situation, it is Arsenal, Chelsea and, in particular, Barcelona who seem to hold the cards on the deal.

And while speculation about the 25-year-old winger’s future continues, Spanish outlet Marca claim Raphinha has told his club he will not take part in pre-season, in a bid to force through a move to the Nou Camp.

It’s understood Leeds are looking to recoup around £60million for the Brazil international, however financial issues at Barca have stalled any move to Spain.

That has resulted in the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal testing the water for the player, but the former’s interest may well fade due to the imminent arrival of England international Raheem Sterling.

Newcastle do have a long-standing interest in the player, a one which pre-dates the Saudi-led takeover, but the understanding is that the price will prove too rich for United this summer, especially with Eddie Howe keen to sign two forward players before September 1.
