Lewis Hall told he will leave Newcastle United in 2027 and new contract means nothing

Lewis Hall committed his future to Newcastle United until 2031 with a contract extension last Friday.

Former Crystal Palace owner Simon Jordan believes Newcastle United have simply protected their asset by giving Lewis Hall a new contract.

And in a brutal shutdown to Toon supporters, the talkSPORT pundit tipped the 22-year-old to leave next summer. Newcastle confirmed Hall’s contract extension until 2031 on Friday.

The news came following a summer of speculation linking the left-back to Manchester United. Sources at St James’ Park were adamant throughout the window that Hall would not be sold after losing Anthony Gordon, Sandro Tonali and Bruno Guimaraes.

Simon Jordan on Lewis Hall

Ex-Palace chief Jordan has now predicted that Newcastle will sell Hall at the end of the season. He said: “I read somewhere the other day that Newcastle's turnover might be up to £500million. In your hat! Their turnover is nowhere near £500million. They've got to be able to build that.

“To go to your question, how can a team build momentum if they sell their best players? They can get fits and starts, they can punch their weight. And this Lewis Hall thing, they've protected an asset. The kid's better off playing at Newcastle for another year and he'll be gone in a year's time.”

‘I’m absolutely delighted’ - Lewis Hall

Hall - a boyhood Newcastle fan - highlighted his family connection to the club after penning a new deal. He said: “I'm absolutely delighted. It's a really proud moment. It's an absolute pleasure to play for this club and to represent the supporters. I know how much it means to them.

“The fanbase and the support we get here, whether it's at St James’ Park or away, it's the best in the league in my opinion. To be able to bring joy to their faces, it's a big thing for me.

“I obviously have a family connection with the club, which is incredibly important to us all. One of the main reasons I play is to make my family proud, and I know how much it means to them to watch me playing for Newcastle United.

“It's a really good place to be. It's really pleasing with how we've started the season, especially with the new gaffer and coaching staff coming in, and I think we can go on to achieve really big things.”
