The likes of Nick Pope, Dan Burn, Matt Targett and Chris Wood - who scored the only goal of the game from the spot - won’t feature against Bilbao.
It was left to academy graduate Elliot Anderson to steal the show on Friday, which has strengthened his hopes of being part of Howe’s first team squad this season.
Minutes are key in pre-seasona nd Howe will have the opportunity to hand most players up to 90 minutes ahead of hosting Nottingham Forest next Saturday.
