Newcastle United’s celebrations are leading to some rather questionable nicknames.

Celebrations are still ongoing among Newcastle United players and supporters after the team qualified for the Champions League for the first time in 20 years.

The festivity made room for a large number of social media posts from all involved, which in turn allowed Jacob Murphy to do what he does best- terrorise his teammates with silly nicknames.

This week’s victim: Nick Pope.

During last nights 0-0 draw against Leicester the goalkeeper was left with very little to do until the final 15 minutes- in the end pulling off a massive save to secure the point needed for Newcastle United to secure a top four finish.

Celebratory, Pope posted to Instagram with the funny caption: ‘Best 0-0 ever,’ which was met with a lot of fanfare.

Sean Longstaff commented hearts, Sven Botman hearts and the hallelujah emoji, leaving Murphy the opportunity to shine.

Murphy added ‘Some kitten!’ to the post.

Whether for his playfulness or agile reflexes we’ll never know. But I don’t think anyone ever expected affectionately calling the England goalie ‘kitten’ to be on the cards.
