Ross Wilson's latest Newcastle United signing scores first senior goal - will join club in 2027
Newcastle United completed a deal to sign young midfielder Ousmane Diabate earlier this month.
Newcastle United’s latest signing is making a big impression during a loan spell with Turkish club Genclerbirligi and caught the eye by scoring his first ever senior goal at the weekend.
The Magpies completed the signing of once-capped Guinea international midfielder Ousmane Diabate earlier this month and immediately agreed to loan the youngster back to the Super Lig club on a season-long deal. The 18-year-old has already set his sights on making an impression with Metin Diyadi’s side after enduring a challenging first season in senior football last time out.

Speaking about remaining in Turkey for another season before officially becoming a Magpie next summer, Diabate told nufc.co.uk: "This season, my personal objectives are to play as many matches as I can in Turkey and to put in some big performances, continuing to improve and progress so when I come back to England in June, I can be at my very best.
"Last season wasn't easy at first. It was a lot of hard work to get to that stage. I had to really fight to get my chance to break through professionally and make my debut, playing against the likes of Galatasaray and some big players. I wanted to get out there and play every match, put in lots of effort and work hard. Last season is a one, I can say, I will never forget and it's something that makes me emotional to think about."
The youngster has started all five of Genclerbirligi’s Super Lig fixtures during the opening month of their season and he provided an assist in a 1-1 draw with Erzurumspor last month as his side made it seven points from their opening three games of the campaign. A 5-0 hammering at the hands of a Trabzonspor side containing the likes of Mo Salah and Fabinho put an end to a strong start to the season - but there was a personal highlight for Diabate on Sunday when he fired home his first senior goal with a powerful strike in a 2-1 defeat against Kasimpasa.
The goal has captured the attention on a number of Magpies fans on social media as the young midfielder continues what has been a promising start to his final season with Genclerbirligi before he moves to Tyneside at the end of the campaign.
