Premier League table 2022 gallery: Where Newcastle United, Leeds, Arsenal, Liverpool & others finished

The stats show Eddie Howe’s side enjoyed a remarkable 12 months in the Premier League.

The spectre of relegation loomed large around Newcastle United when the clock struck midnight and the world celebrated the arrival of 2022.

Just days earlier, the Magpies had shown all of their battling qualities as they earned a 1-1 home draw against Manchester United - but that point felt little reward as Eddie Howe’s side remained second from bottom in the Premier League table as they ventured into the new year.

A successful January transfer window and the transformation of several existing members of Howe’s squad saw a record-breaking run of form lead United away from the relegation zone and into the comfort of mid-table by the time the final whistle was blown on the season at Burnley in May.

The momentum has continued into the current campaign with the Magpies sat in third place in the table after losing just one of their opening 17 games of the season. But how does United’s record over the last 12 months compare to their Premier League rivals?
