PSG star Kylian Mbappe told Newcastle United of his St James’ Park fear years before Champions League draw

Newcastle United fans have dug up an old viral video of Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappe talking about Newcastle United after the Magpies were drawn in a group with the French giants in the Champions League.

Months of waiting came to an end on Thursday evening as Newcastle United learnt their European fate, being lumped in a so-called 'group of death' with PSG, AC Milan and Borussia Dortmund. Eddie Howe will have to prepare to face some of the continent's most feared opponents but supporters are already excited to see the best of the best under the lights at St James' Park.

Sandro Tonali will have a reunion with his adored AC Milan and the likes of Maro Reus and Mats Hummels will come calling with Borussia Dortmund. When PSG fly into Tyneside, all eyes will of course be on superstar Kylian Mbappe.

The Frenchman, who was subject to a rejected £259 million bid from Saudi Arabia this summer, has 215 goals in 266 PSG appearances and will no doubt be a danger against the Magpies later this year.

Reacting to the draw online, football fans were quick to go back to a video of Mbappe relaxing with PSG teammates on a flight in 2021. In the video, Antoine Griezmann boasted about his Football Manager success as Newcastle United manager, where he had won the Premier League, FA Cup, Champions League, Community Shield and the Super Cub by 2027.

"What a coach! I am one of the English football Gods," Griezemann joked to teammates Ousmane Dembele and Kylian Mbappe.

Griezemann informed Mbappe that he had been a key part of his Football Manager success, having forked out €134 million for his services. Mbappe couldn't quite get his head around where his virtual self was playing and had to ask, 'where's that?'.

Once the star worked out where the club was in the UK, he clearly wasn't keen at the idea of a move there. He said: "Oof, it's not warm there!"

Finding the video once again, one social media user said: "It’s come full circle…….one game under the lights at SJP with the atmosphere they create Mbappe will be sold on it for sure."

Another added: "Let's give Mbappe a nice icy cold welcome at SJP."

Others joked that "St James' Park is waiting, pal" and "Mbappe and St James' Park is going to be a movie".
