Steve Parish says he ‘can’t imagine a situation’ where Crystal Palace lose both Marc Guehi and Joachim Andersen this summer.

The centre-back pair have been the subject of bids from Newcastle United and Fulham, respectively, in the past week. The Magpies have submitted three offers for Guehi - the latest being an initial £55million and £5m in add-ons - but Parish warned “nobody has got to the valuation yet” and that the Eagles are “nowhere near the point where we need to make a decision”.

Fulham, meanwhile, have recently tabled a bid worth £30m for Andersen, though Palace are understood to value the Danish defender closer to the £40m mark. The 28-year-old previously spent the 2020-21 season on loan at Craven Cottage from Lyon.

If Parish’s comments are anything to go by, a potential worry for Newcastle is Fulham agreeing a deal for Andersen which would then harden Palace’s stance regarding Guehi.

"There's been a bit of interest in Joachim as well," Parish told the BBC. "Obviously, that's an interesting one because I can't imagine a situation where we would lose both of our centre-halves.

"Joachim is a special lad and very much at the heart of what we do. He's like our quarter-back in that back three. Sensational footballer. Very unlucky at the Euros when he could have scored the winning goal and then got the handball.

"That situation is in the newspapers. It's not a million miles away for once. We have got to sit and think about the right thing to do, what the players want to do, but if both of them are still here by the end of the window, I wouldn't be surprised."

Pressure appears to be building on Newcastle to close out a deal or indeed call off talks and explore other options. Eddie Howe’s side had shown interest in AC Milan defender Malick Thiaw before opening talks over Guehi.
