'We'll see' - Newcastle United double transfer clause as Eddie Howe drops midfielder hint
Joe White is currently starring for League Two side MK Dons having scored three goals and provided an assist in his last five matches. A little further down the division and Jamie Miley has turned out for Newport County, though has been restricted to just eight appearances because of injury.
There is a January break clause in both players’ deals that gives the Magpies the option of recalling them this month. Asked about their short-term futures, United boss Eddie Howe said: “We'll wait and see what happens with all the loan players. We'll make decisions based on the players' needs and our needs.

“I'm pleased to see Joe White especially getting a lot of football. He's done well and we're keeping a close eye on him, someone we believe has got really good technical skills and ability. It'll be interesting to see what is next for Joe.
“Jamie had an injury-hit period with Newport but is someone that we really respect.”
It is understood teams in the Championship and League One are monitoring White’s situation, however he is enjoying his football in Milton Keynes and could opt to stay. The 22-year-old last month won the club’s player of the month award.
White spent the first-half of last season on loan at Crewe Alexandra but was recalled by Newcastle as they dealt with an unprecedented amount of injuries. The Carlisle-born midfielder went on to make four Premier League appearances and in the summer penned a contract extension until 2027.

It was reported earlier this week that Newcastle plan to recall Miley and consider other offers, including permanent ones. The fact Howe used the word “had” i.e talking about Miley at Newport in the past tense suggests United may have already taken that step.
The 20-year-old, older brother to Lewis, joined the Magpies’ academy in 2016. He progressed through the age groups and has featured for the first-team in several friendlies.
