The Magpies have already added AC Milan midfielder Sandro Tonali and Odense winger Yankuba Minteh to their ranks this summer, with the latter completing a season-long loan move to Dutch champions Feyenoord after finalising his £6million switch to St James Park.

Newcastle remain keen to add further new faces to their squad as they prepare for a return to Champions League football for the first time in two decades and are widely believed to be hoping to secure the services of a full-back, centre midfielder and a winger before the transfer window closes at the end of August.

Recent reports have suggested Leicester City winger Harvey Barnes is a target following the Foxes relegation from the Premier League and Eddie Howe is believed to be a long-term admirer of Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay. However, West Ham are also said to be considering a move for the duo according to a report in The Guardian.

Both players reportedly have £40million price tags.

Hammers captain Declan Rice has spent the last few days putting the final touches to a British record £105million move to Premier League rivals Arsenal and Scotland international McTominay to said to have been placed alongside the likes of Juventus star Denis Zakaria, Southampton’s James Ward Prowse and Everton’s Amadou Onana on a list of possible replacements. The report also states West Ham boss David Moyes could reignite his interest in Ajax and Mexico midfielder Edson Alvarez, who has also been linked with a move to Newcastle over the last year.

Barnes is attracting interest from several clubs over the last month and is said to be keen to leave Leicester and return to the Premier League this summer.
