Newcastle United enjoyed a rather big-spending summer transfer window.

The Magpies were calm and collected for the majority of the window, spending big on Sven Botman but largely resisting getting into any bidding wars.

Newcastle may have become one of the richest clubs around, but they know they must transform the squad slowly.

That is, in part, not to leave Eddie Howe with the impossible job of bedding in too many new players.

But it’s also because of Financial Fair Play rules that Newcastle have to abide by, needing to increase profits before they can spend huge figures.

Having said that, they did manage to create the margin required to spend big on a striker late in the window, with Alexander Isak joining for around £60million.

It will be interesting to see whether the Magpies strngthen further in January, and here we have rounded up the players bookmakers think Newcastle could sign in the winter.

Wilfried Zaha - 12/1

Newcastle are featured in the odds for two players currently, and Zaha is the most likely, according to the bookmakers.

The Crystal Palace winger has been linked with a number of clubs, but he was never close to a move in the summer.

Zaha has been very loyal Crystal Palace since his return, but at 29, it’s likely he will want the opportunity to win silverware.

With that in mind, he is deemed one of the most likely high profile Premier League stars to move on in January.

But he is likely to be expensive in the winter, and that’s why Newcastle’s chances are not deemed likely.

Jude Bellingham - 25/1

Bellingham is very much a long shot, which is no surprise given how expensive he is likely to be.

Borussia Dortmund are not likely to sell the midfielder at all this winter, with a summer deal more likely.

But even then it is likely to cost any interested club £100million or more, and Newcastle are not likely to spend that amount on one player at this stage.

This one is extremely unlikely, and doubly so in January.
