Sam Fender’s two night stint at St James Park is only days away now, and preparations are underway for the gigs on Friday, June 9 and Saturday, June 10.

Thousands of people are set to descend on the North East’s largest stadium, and a long list of safety protocols for the venue includes a list of items which spectators cannot bring into the ground.

Newcastle United and event organisers have released the list of banned items from the two days of live music which will see Fender play his first shows in the North East since May 2022.

A full document which can be found through the Newcastle United website claims any ticket holder who breaches terms and conditions can be ejected or be refused entry.

The full list of banned items for the shows is:

  • A banner or flag banner or flag that bears material or slogans that are offensive, obscene, abusive or racist
  • Illegal drugs
  • Any other illegal substances
  • Fireworks
  • Firecrackers
  • Smoke canisters or smoke bombs
  • Air horns
  • Flares
  • Laser devices
  • Bottles
  • Glass vessels
  • Any item which could be used as a weapon or could compromise public safety
  • Any food or drink which has been purchased outside the stadium

Smoking or vaping within the stadium is also banned while anyone who is, or appears to be, intoxicated may also be refused entry or asked to leave the events.

Are bags banned from Sam Fender at St James Park?

The artist posted advice on his Instagram story on the morning of Thursday, June 8 saying gig goers shouldn’t bring bags, but anyone who does should make sure they are smaller than 30cm by 30cm.
