With a £3 admission fee, guests will be able to try free samples, score discounts, browse vegan food stalls, engage with animal sanctuaries, shop for cruelty-free clothing and much more.

The festival teases that there will be: "A huge selection of delicious cruelty-free food, everything from hot dogs to cupcakes, from burgers to pies, all at amazing prices made by some of the best vegan food companies in the UK.

"Educational stalls who will have a plethora of information on the benefits of going vegan. The benefits of an ethical lifestyle, our environmental impact and how veganism can benefit our health.

"Cooking demonstrations that will show you how simple plant-based based cooking can be."

As well as eating, drinking and shopping, the day will be broken up with talks from activists and campaigners.

Local activist and owner of vegan food business VBites Foods Heather Mills said: "I am proud as a Geordie and fellow vegan to see such a festival appear in the heart of Northumberland.

"When I was a kid meat was considered the cornerstone of a good diet.

"Luckily for us, it was too expensive, so though we felt deprived at the time, we were blessed, little did we know.

"Many years later when I became a vegan I realised that an alternate to meat would help others go through the transitional period to save their health, the animals, and the environment.

"Now, VBites Foods is the biggest meatless meat manufacturer in the world.

"All dreams of saving lives, both animal and human are doable, you must just take that leap of faith.

"Visit the Newcastle Vegan festival and educate yourself for the better.

"Everyone can heal through a plant-based diet, and the bonus is saving 100″s of lives in your lifetime."
