Iconic band The Prodigy will bring another electric performance to Newcastle this month.

The Prodigy announced their return to the stage to play a run of live dates in England across July this year.

The live shows will coincide with the 25th anniversary of The Fat Of The Land, the band’s third studio album released in 1997.

The Prodigy is scheduled to perform at the O2 City Hall in Newcastle on Monday 18 July 2022.

Doors are scheduled to open at 6:30pm.

Who is The Prodigy?

The Prodigy are an English electronic dance music band from Braintree, Essex.

The band was formed in 1990 by record producer and songwriter Liam Howlett.

The band’s line-up has included MC and vocalist Maxim, dancer and vocalist Keith Flint, dancer and live keyboardist Leeroy Thornhill, and dancer and vocalist Sharky.

The band now consists of Liam Howlett and Maxim, after Thronhill left in 2000 to pursue a solo career. Frontman Keith Flint was a part of the band until his passing in 2019.

The band is credited as pioneers of the breakbeat-influenced genre big beat which rose to prominence in the 1990’s.

They are included in this group with the likes of The Chemical Brothers, and Fatboy Slim.

The Prodigy emerged in the underground rave scene in the early 1990s and achieved popularity and worldwide recognition with UK number one singles such as Firestarter and Breathe, both of which came from their UK and US chart-topping album The Fat of the Land which was released in 1997.

Throughout their career the band have sold an estimated 25 million records worldwide.

The band has won many awards throughout their career, including two Brit Awards for Best British Dance Act, three MTV Video Music Awards, two Kerrang! Awards, five MTV Europe Music Awards, and received two Grammy Award nominations.
