Ant and Dec banter with Jill Scott over Sunderland once again during Saturday Night Takeaway

Geordie presenting duo Ant and Dec - whose long-standing partnership began after meeting on the set of Newcastle based children’s TV show, Byker Grove - have bantered with Jill Scott once again over the footballer’s home city of Sunderland.

On Ant and Dec’s ITV saturday evening television show, Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway, former Lioness Jill Scott appeared as the celebrity guest speaker for the evening.

Ant and Dec met now retired footballer Jill, when she participated in the 2022 series of I’m A Celebrity: Get Me Out of Here, which the pair have presented since 2002. Jill won the hearts of the nation, and was crowned the Queen of the Jungle.

Ant and Dec are known to support their beloved home city team, Newcastle United, while Jill is an avid supporter of her own home city team, Sunderland AFC. Jill also previously played for Sunderland Women.

The pair have been known to banter with Jill surrounding the rivalry between Newcastle and Sunderland.

On last nights show (Saturday, March 26), Ant and Dec announced Jill as the guest speaker, and referenced her appearance on I’m A Celebrity: Get Me Out of Here, as Ant said: “Jill it’s great to see you looking well, because the last time we saw you, you were in a really dark place.”

Dec then jumped in with the joke: “What, Sunderland?” The pair then laughed before Ant said: “No, a coffin full of rats!” Dec then replied with yet another quip, saying: “Yeah, better than Sunderland!”

From the guest speaker box, Jill replied: “Is the only reason you two invited me on this show, is so that you could have a go at sunderland?” Dec responded with: “No, it’s not the only reason, it’s the main reason but it’s not the only reason.”

However, it was all in light-hearted fun, as Jill later got her own back with a funny comeback on Dec’s height.

Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway is currently on its 19th series, with the final episode to air on Saturday, April 8.
