Geordies have had their say on what they want this year's Fenwick's Christmas Window to look like ahead of the hotly-anticipated reveal, expected next month.

Last year the characters from Shaun the Sheep adorned the department store's windows along Northumberland Street, following Wind in the Willows, Paddington, The Snowman and Beatrix Potter themes. This year's plans are still very hush-hush, but it isn't stopping the people of Newcastle from guessing what it may be.

A date for the big reveal is still to be confirmed but it normally takes place in early November. Last year Fenwick's ran a virtual reveal with a live stream online and a small number of local schoolchildren at the shop in person. Here's what some locals had to say about this year's window when stopped by our Local TV cameras near Monument.

Dolly: "No more Shaun the Sheep! That was nothing to do with Christmas, one year we had aliens, didn't understand that at all. More Christmas songs would be great. Everyone used to walk past and sing Christmas songs but you don't really get them anymore and I don't understand why. The Nativity would be nice. I used to bring my grandchildren, they're all grown up and married now. They used to love it! It was a tradition every year, even now we walk past."

John: "Something more inclusive would be nice, maybe something focusing on disability. Focus more on that than Christmas."

Jasmine: "I think it would be cute if it was penguins! You could relate it to an environmental charity."

Christine and Andy: "It would be nice to have something fun for the kids. They could have one window dedicated to the Queen. My grandson would say pokemon - they're into that. We go every year - we do a preview for the grandchildren and then our daughter brings them up later on when it's a bit quieter."
