The 33-year-old had visited St James’ Boulevard to play poker but tried his hand at Grosvenor’s national Tournament Time promotion, a slots tournament.

Jamie tested out his beginner’s luck having never played slots before, achieving the highest score in the casino and bagging himself £500.

His luck didn’t stop there though, as he nabbed a prize from a randomly chosen lucky dip of Tournament Time players.

The top ten players of Tournament Time each month are put into the draw, with Jamie entering and coming out victorious.

Speaking of his lucky turn, Jamie said: “I was shocked when I found out that I had won not only once but twice.

“As soon as I got the news I ran to my phone and called my girlfriend to let her know my beginner’s luck.

“She’s as excited as me and we can’t wait to get on the plane and enjoy what will be a holiday of a lifetime with all Las Vegas has to offer.”

Wayne Sheekey, General Manager of Grosvenor Casino Newcastle, said: “We have had a lot of winners at our casino recently across many of our gaming offers including slots and poker.
