Sam Fender fans have the chance to pre-order a commemorative St James' Park version of the star's third studio album ahead of two landmark shows at the home of Newcastle United.

The meaning behind the mysterious Sam Fender billboards around the cathedral on the hill has now been revealed after fans were sent into overdrive trying to guess what the clues could mean.

The posters around St James' Park feature Newcastle United kit with the numbers 1, 2 and 3 on the back. Next to the first two digits were the names of Fender's first two albums Hypersonic Missiles and Seventeen Going Under, while the third was next to a QR code.

Initially, the QR code took fans to a mailing list sign up but now the link gifts fans the special chance to pre-order a commemorative edition of the star's third album - which has been confirmed for release some time next year.

There will be two different picture discs, one for each night of the show, which will feature photos from the gigs as a special collector's edition for fans.

It comes as Fender strives to commemorate what are set to be two historic nights for the musician and the North East as a region.

The picture disks are available for one week only on Sam Fender's official store and pre-orders will close at 6 pm on Saturday, June 18.
