This Christmas, as Geordies eat their fill of festive luxuries, NewcastleWorld looks back at the best restaurants we've tried this year.
From cheap eats in Grainger Market to more upmarket offerings on the Quayside, we've been impressed by a wide range of eateries here on Tyneside.
Whether you enjoy a more formal sit down meal or a quick bite to eat, there may well be something for you on this list - as well as the must-have dish on menus.
Below we remember nine times we put our tastebuds to the test and came out impressed.
1. Chaophraya
The roof terrace at Chaophraya makes it a must-visit when the sun is out to play. Really friendly service from a waiter called Quincey and a knockout coconut creme brulee were highlights of our visit this year.
2. Rio’s Steakhouse
Rio’s Steakhouse won a heralded TripAdvisor award last year and its reputation has just kept growing now its sought out by Brazilian Newcastle stars. Not only is the food here great, but we found the Jesmond branch’s running as slick as can be.
3. Gusto Italian
We were one of the first to try the terrace at Gusto Italian on the Quayside this summer. We were perhaps a little too keen, as it was still a little nippy, but the tasty menu made up for that. Staff here had us chuckling all evening and food was delicious.
4. Gino D’Acampo Newcastle
Big fans of this one. Having been both for a more formal dinner and afternoon tea, it’s clear Gino’s in Newcastle really knows what its doing. The Quayside views are great and it feels like a posh outing, without being pretentious.
